2009 Models in stock now

The 2009 range of Hobie Mirage kayaks are now in stock, featuring a new rudder up/down system. Also new to the 2009 models is the 'click & go' lock-in mechanism for the mirage drive.

The Oasis has also had a revamp of the hull, with new handles, a deeper body and sleeker hull. Length, width, speed and rated capacity have not changed, but the newly designed bottom improves stability and additional buoyancy.

Demo kayaks now on sale

Maclean Outdoors is currently selling the current range of demo kayaks to make room for the '09 range. These demo kayaks have been used for demonstration purposes on short trips in the calm waters of the Clarence river. All boats are in excellent condition and are priced to sell.

Kayaks on offer include the Sport, Outback, Outfitter, Oasis and Adventure Island. If you're in the market for one of these models and are looking for a great price, we might just have your boat.

Check the specials page for photos and more information.

i9s Inflatable kayak added to range

The Hobie mirage 'i' series have received a little brother, the nimble little i9s. 3 foot smaller than the i12, the i9s is a neat 9' long kayak that is a snap to inflate, deflate, roll and pack. Because of it's reduced size, as well as no forward hatch (like the two larger models) it is considerably smaller and lighter packed. The hull weight is only 17kg, and the entire kayak - paddles, pedals and all - packs down into a tough bag that easily passes for typical airline luggage. Like the other inflatables, the bag has roller wheels and an extendable carry handle, making it very easy to manage in transit as well.

Gallery section added to website

We've added a gallery page to the site, which we hope to grow slowly but surely by filling it with photos taken by our family, friends and customers. So if you capture a great photo or catch a great fish from your Hobie (and have the photographic evidence to prove it) please share it with us.

Josh Holmes (Yakabout editor) was good enough to share a few of his favourite photos to get the page started.

We're especially interested in photos taken of or from Hobie kayaks, particularly in the mid-morth to north coast region of NSW. Email Doug if you have any photos to share. Preferred resolution width: 1024.

Look at this pearler taken by Josh last year while kayak fishing in the Clarence river, Iluka.
